Copenhagen-based DJ and producer, Anastasia Kristensen, shares her highly anticipated Volshebno EP.

Having spent the last few years continuing to hone her craft and refining her signature sound - electrifying heavy-hitting club music - this is is her first EP since 2019, following acclaimed releases Maxima (with us in 2019) and Ascetic (Arcola Warp, 2019). Bursting with colourful, raucous energy, nodding to both her native city Copenhagen’s trance and techno scene and her love for UK jungle, breaks and hardcore, Volshebno EP is playful, mesmeric and enigmatic. Just like her DJ sets, there are a few twists and turns along the way.

On the EP, Anastasia says,

Volshebno means “Magical” in Russian. The EP turned out to have a playful and melodic narrative, and it’s about those very first and initial feelings, like - when you have a brilliant new idea or realising you’re developing a new crush on someone.

The follow up to ‘Volshebno Stretched’ - a dizzying, breaks-laden extended track, supported by Crack Magazine, Resident Advisor, Electronic Beats, and more, ‘Volshebno’ is a driving, chunky cut for those hazy early hours in the rave. In Ana’s own words, “It’s a playful and sassy track on the EP, with light melodies, and an old school techno flavour in it.”

An artist ready to begin shining a light on her full creative vision, the EP also drops today with the captivating, up-close and personal video ‘Volshebno Stretched’. The sentimental video is a beautifully shot portrayal of human experiences, with crystal clear, super high definition shots of four Danish natives - thoughtfully cast by and including Ana herself - free to explore and express their emotions.

Anastasia’s Volshebno EP comes after a mysterious project tease, with three incredible remixes from some of dance music’s most exciting artists right now - Galway’s party starter KETTAMA, Danish techno titan Ctrls and Brooklyn’s ballroom scene darling, quest?onmarq, supported by DJ Mag, Electronic Beats, Dummy, Crack, Mary Anne Hobbs on 6 Music and more.
